Life and business are about the choices you make
Do you remember ‘Sliding Doors’ the late 90’s movie that got us thinking about the choices we make and the impact they have as our life unfolds?
If you haven’t seen it, Gwyneth Paltrow’s character gets fired from a job and she rushes to catch her train on the London Underground, but misses it because the train doors are closed.
The film then rewinds and the scene gets replayed.
Except, now she manages to board the train and a different set of events begins to unfold. The director tells the story of how different her life would have been if she’d caught the train.
Have you ever wondered what might have been?
What about the decisions you’ve made in the past?
Maybe you’re wrestling with what to do next or are stuck or worried about the impact of a decision and what it might mean for your future?
The strange thing is, there’s power in decision, whether it turns out to be the right decision or not, or if you do or don’t act upon it, you’re triggering what Emerson called the, “Law of Laws,”
The Law of Cause and Effect
Every cause has an effect and every effect becomes the cause of something else.
How you think controls the decisions you make. So it’s important to ask yourself, if the decision you a looking to make will take you closer to or further away from your goal.
Don’t think why something can’t be done think about how it can be done.
Control the controllable
All too often people worry about trying to control things that haven’t yet happened, rather than just taking action and letting the answers unfold step-by-step and trusting the process.
Your best teacher is your last mistake
If things don’t go to plan, don’t worry, your best teacher is your last mistake. So long as you’re open to learn from it, and keep your goal to the front of your mind.
And just like ‘Sliding Doors’, you’ll be on the right train.
